Who We Serve

Designed for traditional Michiana households who want it done right.

We work best with a specific kind of family. Being clear about who fits — and who doesn't — means better outcomes for everyone.

Ideal Clients

Three families we serve exceptionally well.

👫

The Homeowning Couple

Typically in their 60s or early 70s. Own a home in Northern Indiana or Southwest Michigan. Have adult children and meaningful assets — retirement accounts, savings, maybe a vacation property. Want a clear plan that works without burdening their kids.

🧑‍💼

The Widowed Individual

Estate plan may be outdated or nonexistent after a spouse's passing. Adult children are involved and want things handled properly. Needs a clean, complete plan that reflects a new situation — with one trustworthy advisor guiding the process.

📋

The Plan That Was Never Funded

Documents were prepared by an attorney years ago. Nothing was ever retitled. Beneficiary designations are stale. The trust is legally valid but functionally useless. Needs someone to diagnose what's missing and complete the implementation.

Fit Assessment

Good fit. Not a fit.

We're direct about this because it saves everyone time. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so — and point you in a better direction.

✓ Good fit

  • Homeowning couples in their 60s–70s in Northern Indiana or Southwest Michigan
  • Widowed individuals with adult children and established assets
  • Families with $500K–$3M in total assets who want clarity and full implementation
  • Families whose prior documents were never properly funded
  • Anyone who wants a structured process, clear next steps, and confirmed completion
  • Families who value working with the same advisor from start to finish

✗ Not a fit

  • Complex estate tax engineering or generation-skipping trust structures
  • Medicaid crisis planning or long-term care eligibility work
  • High-conflict family dynamics requiring litigation or court involvement
  • Multi-state business structures requiring specialized transactional counsel
  • Families located outside Northern Indiana or Southwest Michigan
  • Anyone looking for hourly advisory work without a defined deliverable
Common Questions

Things families typically want to know first.

The Simple Trust Plan includes professionally prepared documents plus personal guidance through the process — questions answered, signing coordinated, implementation roadmap provided. Full Advisory adds deed preparation and recording, account retitling coordination, beneficiary designation review, and a documented funding proof file. If you have real estate, multiple accounts, or a blended family situation, Full Advisory is typically the better fit.
Yes — this is one of the most common situations we work with. We'll review what exists, identify what's missing (typically funding, updated beneficiary designations, or a recorded deed), and coordinate completion. In some cases, documents need to be updated before implementation can proceed. We'll be honest about what we find.
We serve Southwest Michigan residents on the planning and coordination side. Indiana-specific documents (Indiana trust, Indiana POA, Indiana deed) are prepared under Indiana law. If you have Michigan real estate, we'll discuss what that requires and whether additional Michigan counsel is needed for deed recording. We're transparent about the boundaries of our Indiana license.
From orientation call to funded completion, most engagements run 4–8 weeks depending on asset complexity, institution responsiveness for account retitling, and county recorder processing times for deed recording. We set realistic expectations at the start and keep the process moving.
We charge a flat fee — not hourly. The amount depends on which planning level fits your situation. We discuss pricing in the initial consultation before any commitment. There are no surprises. If you're looking for a lower-cost starting point, our sister site Michiana Trust Planning offers professionally reviewed document bundles starting at $99.
Not sure if you're a fit?

Send a note. We'll tell you honestly.

No obligation. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so directly and point you somewhere better.
